Warning: Corporate Evil Ahead! But Lovely Corporate Evil

It's a fine thing when an anarchist (but one a little too old for Utopian visions) pitches in to promote a movie from a monster corporation, but I'm not an iconoclast. Sure, I live in the middle of a terrible empire, but perhaps that's part of the greatness of its culture, and I'll never sacrifice beauty to moralism.

That said, I'll post some recently-released images from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. Yes, that's even a link to the newly-launched official site!

There's a lack of depth to the USA's culture lately, and its productions seem to say little more than "this is a marketable thing, this is how I make my living," so I'm not getting myself too worked up about the movie. I have no taste for a core of conservative blandness, especially in ostensibly fanciful productions.

Nevertheless, I did enjoy the Disney company's movie treatments of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, and cultural affiliation, even if individualist and perverse, makes seeing a new treatment of Lewis Carroll's books an obligation.

Now that I called Alice Week off, I want to post more pictures of her. Go figure. Would life be easier if I weren't so bent on being contrary? Probably, but it wouldn't be half so rich and full! The dilemma of the practical anarchist, that's what it is.It's very hard to resist pictures that blend so well with my plain white background. Both meanings intended.

Now I'm going to go enjoy a day off. As soon as I get used to the idea of free time, I'll have to return to work. Oh, the trials of the working man! At least I have that scourge of the working class, alcohol, for company today.

Alice in Wonderland Week, Day Two

These videos are a bit washed-out but well worth watching, I think. Those are Peter Sellers as the March Hare and Dudley Moore as the Dormouse, if you're familiar with the actors. This 1972 version, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, is my very favorite. I told you I'm perverse!

There's a delightfully perverse quality to the Mad Tea Party anyhow.
